Jorge Torres is
a world-renowned tango dancer and choreographer.
He was the Dance Captain of Forever Tango from 1995 to 2010,
a renowned tango show that has performed throughout the world.
He excels in both show and social dancing, giving great
emphasis to balance and axis control. The following interview is
very illuminating regarding his skill set and philosophy:
Workshops will be held on Saturday and Sunday Feb. 25-26, 2012 at
El Laguito.
Emphasis throughout will be on axis, balance, relaxation and core,
although he will touch on the many elements that go into a tango dance.
His workshops are challenging to dancers at all levels and everybody
can benefit, taking out of them whatever is appropriate to their own
level and exploration of this infinitely complex form of expression,
with so many dimensions.

Come and learn the Argentine Tango.
The class is designed for all levels of dance, following the principles
espoused by Mimi Santapa and Jorge Torres (a former and current judge of the world tango championships in Buenos Aires, who visit us yearly in Tallahssee!
We emphasize technique and connection through an understanding of the body
and its mechanics. Through this understanding arises better balance,
better use of energy, decreased use of force, and increased naturalness.
The end results is the ability to improvise by concentrating more on desired
body movement, rather than on the feet.
We work to develop improved posture, walking, relaxation, axis, and
weight control
through a series of exercises designed to address indivisual challenges.
Price: Free!!
For Private lessons, contact Gordon Erlebacher.
